For some reason I find myself depressed on Mother’s Day. Not that I think I am not a good mother but it makes me wonder whether I did what I could for Maddux this year. I do not leave Cade out of the equation but lets face it, I could leave him in the house for a week and he could take care of himself. So today I decided to get Cade to take a picture of how I feel. Workout clothes still on, hair a mess and in my favorite spot. Might I add he is quite the photographer! So here I am, wondering where to take Maddux next. Where can I use my money for the most good while targeting where she struggles the most. I always find a way so I do not worry too much, but I do spend a few days feeling heavy while I figure out her next path. I have listened and made all the decisions to get her where she is and God did not lead me wrong in 9 years so I trust He will pull thru again.

These are my lovelies on a cold winter Sunday afternoon. Jammies on, hair a mess but we hugged and kissed through it all! And before anyone says anything… Yes, I have more images than Lenny bc he was being a grump-ola and that was all I could do!

This Friday Maddux starts a new type of therapy called Brain Balance! We are so excited to see how this new therapy works for her. It is a type I really believe in and hope helps to fill in the gaps that Maddux is missing. Each one is linked to the other so intertwined that anything missed early in life affects her process for learning now. So we digress. Back to the beginning of life. The statement “learn to crawl before you walk” is so true. That is where the base of all of it begins. You have stages for a reason. They are learned in an order to help each side of the brain learn to communicate with each other and function at the level it should. Somewhere along the way Maddux missed a few steps and here we will take her back to try to find them! We are excited and so is she!

On August 30th-Sept. 1st, Dr. Robert Melillo, the author of the Disconnected Kids and brains behind this new therapy , will be in Cary for the grand opening of Brain Balance. He will also be here for 2 lectures and a coffee talk for parents. The schedule is below:

Monday, August 30th- 3-6pm meet and greet and book signing at Brain Balance Achievement Center, 8204 Tryon Woods Dr. Cary Nc

7-9pm Lecture on Neurobehavioral Disorders in children (parent focus) Cary Elementary, 400 Kildaire Farm Rd, Cary, NC

Tuesday, August 31st 7-9pm Lecture on Neurobehavioral Disorders in children (professional focus) at NC State Univeristy, McKimmom Center, 1101 Gorman St. Raleigh, NC

Wednesday, September 1st 9-11am coffee talk with Dr. Melillo at Briggs Restaurant, 1040 Tryon Village Dr., Cary

This boy is 100 more times cuter than you can even see here. Believe it or not. He loves pajamas, scooby-do, capes and super heroes. But most of all he love yogurt. He would turn into a cup of blueberry yogurt if I let him eat it as much as he asks for it. It was windy that day and I wanted to get Cade with his cape blowing in the wind. Boy did he have a blast! It was the most stress-free shoot I have ever done because I captured Cade doing what he loves! I ordered 12×12 prints of these for his wall and a 16×20 of the first one so I will post pics once they are up! Here he is in all his glory, doing what he loves and melting my heart!

I am so excited to be attending and helping with 2 of my most favorite people in the world this June at their very own heart shop in Utah. These 2 ladies inspire me beyond words and I can not wait to work with them and share our worlds for two amazing days!

Diana of Yan Photography and Becky of Becky Earl Photography are teaming up to teach all of us and even YOU how to make our cameras shoot what our heart sees!
