This Friday Maddux starts a new type of therapy called Brain Balance! We are so excited to see how this new therapy works for her. It is a type I really believe in and hope helps to fill in the gaps that Maddux is missing. Each one is linked to the other so intertwined that anything missed early in life affects her process for learning now. So we digress. Back to the beginning of life. The statement “learn to crawl before you walk” is so true. That is where the base of all of it begins. You have stages for a reason. They are learned in an order to help each side of the brain learn to communicate with each other and function at the level it should. Somewhere along the way Maddux missed a few steps and here we will take her back to try to find them! We are excited and so is she!

On August 30th-Sept. 1st, Dr. Robert Melillo, the author of the Disconnected Kids and brains behind this new therapy , will be in Cary for the grand opening of Brain Balance. He will also be here for 2 lectures and a coffee talk for parents. The schedule is below:

Monday, August 30th- 3-6pm meet and greet and book signing at Brain Balance Achievement Center, 8204 Tryon Woods Dr. Cary Nc

7-9pm Lecture on Neurobehavioral Disorders in children (parent focus) Cary Elementary, 400 Kildaire Farm Rd, Cary, NC

Tuesday, August 31st 7-9pm Lecture on Neurobehavioral Disorders in children (professional focus) at NC State Univeristy, McKimmom Center, 1101 Gorman St. Raleigh, NC

Wednesday, September 1st 9-11am coffee talk with Dr. Melillo at Briggs Restaurant, 1040 Tryon Village Dr., Cary

Here is a more in depth look at the LAST wedding I did. Notice how I put last. This was for a friend and no I am not a wedding photographer. But this couple sure can make a girl change her mind. I normally like to showcase a few so you can get a real feel for the people but I loved this one from start to finish so that is how I am showing it. Enjoy your new life L and J. HEARTshop #2… love young couples!!!

If there is one thing I learned while I was in Utah it was that that place is crawling with young kids with style. There were so many people walking around like they stepped off the pages of a J. Crew magazine. Well I would not call this style J. Crew but I can not think of what you call these 2 other than super cute. She actually reminded me a lot of myself and the shoes…. hello…. love them! Thanks for braving the heat and paparazzi around you that afternoon!

HEARTshop…swoon

I can not even begin to tell you what an experience it was to be a part of the first HEARTshop that Becky and Yan put together. These ladies are beyond talented as photographers and beyond wonderful as friends. I felt so honored to work along side them and the just as talented and wonderful Brooke. Too bad they are all too far from me to meet with more often.

These 2 below are the cutest things I have ever seen. Who in the world can pull off red shoes with no socks and a tiny red hair clip? This chick can. They got engaged the week prior to this shoot and it was no problem getting them to hug and love and “get up in there” as I so graciously told the HEARTshop attendees. Thanks guys for braving the Utah heat (80 degrees and no humidity. BARF) and for allowing us to “get up in there” to show the photographers how to capture these precious moments you will remember forever!

oh yes, I do believe that this one is my favorite

a love sneak peek… Raleigh Photographer

There really are no words to describe the cuteness of these two this past weekend. You know when you see a movie and the guys holds the girls face and looks at her like she is the only one there, and that it really does not matter who else is there. He is in the moment and no one can take him out of it. That was Jeben. Lauren was the only thought on his mind last Saturday. Jeben is the brother of my BFF Erika who I shot here. I met him when I started college about 15 years ago and he now lives almost on the same street I did when I was living in Redondo Beach, California. We just switched places.

It was such an honor to be a part of this most anticipated day. It was sweet to see them look at each other, her friends dance around her friends and her father be so proud of the girl he raised. Thank you Lauren and Jeben for showing me the freshness of love!

There are not enough words to express my love for this family. I have known them since I was little. I have seen this family go through more things in life than any one family should. But through it all they were faithful. Mom is another photographer in my hometown (Danville, Va) and is taking over the city. I was so happy to capture this family in their perfect life. Here we are! The HEARTshop girls! What an amazing experience and an amazing group of girls to hang with for 2 days. It could not have been better and my heart is overflowing with ideas. You should see my airplane napkin. It is full of inspiring ideas that I want to incorporate into this business and my life. Get ready to see a lot more of me and my family. It will be a duo blog for work and for home. A peak into my soul as a mom and artist. I only hope it will be embraced. Can not wait to share the shop images!

I am kicking my heels up and heading to Utah for the first HEARTshop

I am so excited I am drooling on myself!

but don’t worry…. I will be home soon

but not until I have helped you find your heart in your photography

and gotten you to view life just a little bit differently

I can not wait to share with you all the amazing opportunity I have been given by Becky and Yan. Even though I am there to help I know I will come back a different photographer and person for just having them around me! I will also be surrounded my Brooke, another amazing photog based out of Vegas. Fun things to come…. check back to see!!!!

And yes this is the amazing Leah who has graced my site for her entire first year. She is growing like a weed and healing beautifully!
